American Wildlands Assessment work to identify areas of connectivity refugia and corridors that may become important for identification of future connection habitats for wildlife (Bozeman, MT). This is hoped to become a model for other parts of the country looking to identify important areas of habitat connections for wildlife. As climate change marches on, this type of research is hoped to become helpful for organizations working to assuage the effects of change. $2,000
Craighead Environmental Research Insitute Support research for developing pika habitat sustainability in Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem under changing climates. Funds used for research and GIS remote sensing interpretation. (Gallatin Mountains, MT) Used as first step in applying the same methodology to other targeted study sites in Wyoming. $1,000
"Sacred Headwaters, Sacred Journey" project-photography and writing to highlight Sacred Headwaters, a remote subalpine basin in northern BC –birthplace of BC’s greatest salmon bearing rivers, largest predator/prey intact ecosystems, and home to Tahltan Nation. At risk from proposed coalbed methane project. $4,000
Evergreen State College Foundation Deuterium analysis of hummingbird tail feathers to explore migratory connectivity, with significant implications for conservation for understanding breeding and wintering ranges and the vulnerability of the species due to population decline. Monies will pay for ¾ of lab costs for feather analysis. (Olympia, WA)

Ferry County Noxious Weed Control Board Support survey to identify class A and B noxious weeds along 30 miles of western shoreline along the Kettle and Columbia Rivers (Republic, WA). Will use survey results to work follow up consultations for management plans. Monies will be used for GPS equipment and salary for surveyors. $1,000

Support for online format for presently written publication, Forest Magazine, and website updating $1,000

Oregon Natural Desert Assoc Support for on-going restoration projects focused on desert habitat in Wildlife Refuges, wilderness areas, proposed wilderness and wild and scenic river corridors throughout Oregon’s high desert (Bend, OR). Monies will support staff salary and purchase of gloves to tackle barbed wire removal.. $2,000
The Lands Council Continuing work towards new wilderness designation on the Colville National Forest in northeast Washington. Over past 7 years, Council has developed coalition of public and private land owners and organizations for support. No particular project budget as to how monies will be utilized. $5,000
Tri-Sate Water Quality Council Educational campaign regarding Lake Pend Oreille watershed (Sandpoint, ID) and the need to keep it clean. Newsletter, boater guides, Water Festival monetary support. $2,000
Trumpeter Swan Society Project to achieve Pacific Flyway goals and establish Trumpeter Swan population in Eastern Oregon (Bend, OR). Monies would purchase 10 Wyoming gene pool swans for establishment in Oregon. $2,500
Univ of Arkansas Monies to support sabbatical research through the National Parks Service program. Research to test the nutritional value of curly-leaf mahogany in relationship to the escape terrain of the bighorn sheep and lamb groups in Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area (Montana). Monies will go to nutritional analysis, near infrared spectroscopy analysis, and travel. $1,000
Univ of WA Foundation Study the ecosystem of Spirit Lake-Mt. St. Helens National Monument. Goal is to create complete bioenergetics model to understand nutrient cycling and biological productivity. Applicable to issues faced in Puget Sound region – disturbed physical/biological regimes – by studying processes that influence decoupling of nearshore and open-water productivity in Spirit Lake may be used to help formulate strategies for addressing same issues in Puget Sound. Monies will be applied to lab analysis and van rental. $3,000
Washington Wilderness Coalition Support for Wild Olympics campaign – coalition to protect watersheds on the Olympic Peninsula through wilderness, wild and scenic river and national park designations. Monies will support GIS mapping refinements. $3,000
Willamette Riverkeeper Support for Waldo Lake campaign (Portland, OR). The lake is a major tributary to the Willamette River and the need for a clean water supply is paramount. This is a continuing campaign and these monies would be used for salary contributions, outreach materials, paddle trips onto the lake for public education, and work with the USFS to curb runoff impacts from campgrounds. $2,000
Winter Wildlands Alliance Sampling and analysis of snow in Mt. Baker watershed (Boise, ID) to determine effects of snowmobile exhaust on snowmelt and snowpack.
